Croagh Patrick

Today we stayed in the same place and spent the day climbing Croagh Patrick (that's Irish for "Patrick's Hill).  Hill is a bit of an understatement, as the elevation is about a half mile.  It took 2 1/2 hours up and 1 and a half hour down, 1 pint of Guinness and an hour nap.  Actually, Tom didn't make the whole climb because his ticker and his plantar fasciaitis forced him to curtail his activity.  Sandy, however, made it to the top.   Hiking without a photographer meant no photo to commemorate the event, but I got the shirt!  This evening we're enjoying the quiet of this coastal village.  I brought out the Christmas stocking that I hope to have done by Christmas(!!)  "All the stockings you will find, hanging in a row.   Mine will be the missing one, 'cause Grandma is too slow!!"

The first stop on the way up is the statue of St. Patrick

Then up the mountain.  The goal is the high peak on the right.

The views from up here are great!

It rained off and on on the way.

This was as far as Tom went - I finished it by myself!

Coming down was a challenge too!  Three hours up and 1.5 hours down.
Still we made it!  (I also got the T shirt!!)
